Nun Na-mu Jib, Korean Food in Sam Cheong Dong?
I was introduced to this place by a Korean friend during my summer exchange programme. One of my biggest regrets was getting to know this place on my last day in Seoul. Fast forward almost 5 years to the present (and after 4 more trips later), I have never a missed a chance to return for the authentic food.
The restaurant is situated right near the start of the long stretch of cafes and quaint shops in Samcheongdong (삼청동). You can either walk (around 20-30 mins) from Anguk station or take a cab (I usually choose this option) and drop off at the restaurant directly. Look out for the sign below:

Walk up the short flight of stairs and you’ll be greeted by multiple signed signatures of celebrities, artists, etc. This place is definitely popular and has established itself as one of the better authentic Korean restaurants in town.
Now what should you order?
For a table of 5, we usually order:
- Dduk Galbi or Tteok Galbi (떡갈비) – 8000won. Beef.. steak? Patty? It’s a definite MUST-TRY, you must order this if you eat beef. 1 or 2 portions depending on how many beef eaters you have
- Mung Bean Pancake (녹두빈대떡) – 8000won. 1 portion. This never gets any complaints on every occasion I dined here. Always finished.
- Kimchi Cold Noodles (김치말이국수) – 5000won. 1 portion each, however ladies tend to not finish this since the noodles given are a lot! Really refreshing especially in the hot summer seasons.
There are other items on the menu such as bibimguksu (dry spicy mixed noodle or 비빔국수), Dubu–kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi or 두부김치), mandu (Korean dumplings or 만두), I’ve never ordered them before but based on the crowds, they should be just as good.

After your meal, I’d highly recommend walking around to explore the lovely Samcheongdong area before settling into a cozy cafe for dessert or coffee. Let’s keep that for another post 😉
